Morning Hike at Three Bridges

Such a beautiful trail and cooling off in the creek afterward was a huge bonus! Even getting an early start, it warmed up fast, but Cato was a trooper (he only asked for a short ride, lol). Cato wanted us all to pant with Jasper in a picture.

Happy Father’s Day!

We had a laid-back morning exploring in the riverbed (Jasper was chasing everything that moved and came home exhausted) and then a fun filled afternoon at The Ravine Waterpark with the grandparents! The Dad’s got in FREE and Cato had a blast running laps to go down the slides (once he figured out the program).

Eventful Morning…

The other morning was quite the full morning! We started with Mom getting a blood draw, but Cato hoped up in the chair like he owned the place. Then, at the grandparents, Jasper treed a raccoon! (If dogs could only climb trees…). While the adults were distracted talking to the contractor, Cato escaped to ride his car down the driveway… and now Cato has his first experience with road rash. To cheer Cato up, Larry let us drive the Bobcat!! Then, when we tried to head home for a much needed nap, the Tacoma had a dead battery (and, naturally, it wasn’t straightforward to jump-start it). Soooo ready for a nap…I think Jasper was still dreaming about that raccoon during his nap 😴 πŸ˜‚

Camping at The Indians

It was a hot one, but the creek play did not disappoint, and exploring at Wagon Caves was as fun as ever!

Farmers Market + Family Bike Ride

To celebrate bike month, there was a family bike ride to Farmers Market in SLO! Then, the utilities companies were doing displays, and Cato got to drive the tractor!! As always, the bounce house was a hit.

Morning Walk & Rides around Dove Creek

Cato is very excited to have graduated from chilling in the stroller on morning walks to exploring on his bike. All the pretty spring flowers have been fun to check out (we can ID rock roses!) and there’s a particular mud puddle that’s given him plenty of practice to learn how to scrape mud off his tires lol. The other day, we even made a new friend who joined us on his Razor!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Celebrated with a family outing to the Faerie Festival at  the SLO Botanic Garden followed by a lovely picnic at the park.

Exploring at Rinconada Mine

Cato had lots of fun crawling around on the old equipment and then was a mountain goat scrambling straight up the mountain to find the main mine shaft opening! We took a break to throw rocks into a small pool before coming back down the mountain bike trail. Also, of note, Cato got to pee in the woods for the first time now that we’re out of diapers πŸ˜‚  Jasper wore himself out chasing anything and everything on the mountain. Now everyone is ready for a long nap, lol πŸ˜†

CO Birthday Trip

Great trip to visit friends and celebrate birthdays. Activities included an Escape Room, Pickle ball, Casa Bonita, board games, and exploring several different play grounds. Cato had endless fun in the airports pushing the suitcase/stroller, riding the subway at DEN, playing with hand driers, and riding on every escalator/moving walk way he could find (going back and forth at least twice!).

After 8 years of living in CO, we finally made it to Casa Bonita as a tourist stop on a visit from out of state. Definitely felt like a Disneyland attraction complete with cliff divers, face painting, puppet shows, illusionist, and a live mariachi band! (the “dinner” price is definitely more for the entertainment cost than food quality lol)

Another escape room master minds success!

Trying out some pickle ball to see what all the fuss is about (Cato and Bre elected to nap instead)

Happy Birthday, Steve!

Visiting with Sid, Deepti, and Sarah. Cato was very excited about Sarah’s ball tower and Shadow was quite disapointed that we didn’t bring Jasper to play with him.

Not to be overlooked, there was actually some good quality sleep during the trip!!

How to keep a toddler occupied while waiting for a plane? Give him something to push and a moving sidewalk to run laps back and forth on!

Flying back into SLO had some beautiful views of the coastline including Morro Bay

Exploring in the Salinas Riverbed

Another lovely outing wandering around the riverbed. The water crossing was short on rocks, so Cato tried throwing sticks (harder). Jasper got to chase squirrels and birds to his hearts content. The trail is definitely overgrown with vegetation, so there was some brush wacking involved
