First Day of Preschool!

Cato marched right in and was ready to start playing with the new toys and kids. His cast works great for defending snacks, and group lunch time is a nice, social affair (so far, no swapping/ bartering being conducted). First art project was to evaluate how well everyone can scribble, lol. We’re starting out easy with just 3 days per week / 3 hrs per day, but plan to work up to 5 hrs per day.

Trip to CO for Big Horn Sheep Ride

Fun trip back back to CO to visit Uncle Steve and Auntie Heather. Steve and Du tried their hand at the inaugural Big Horn Sheep Ride in Gypsum (80 miles, mixed gravel/tarmac) but decided actual racing just isn’t their jam. Cato’s arm was noticeably feeling better and didn’t slow him down in the least!

Like father, like son (Cato was excited for 2 uninterrupeted hours of “Spidy and his amazing friends”)
Bubbles for the win!
Uncle Steve and Auntie Heahter got a cool new toy to play with!
Killing it at the playground waiting for the big boys to finish their bike ride
Having fun at Lava Land in Centennial
Best part about traveling…so many escalators, elevators, moving walkways, and even a subway train at DIA!!
Cool aerial view of downtown Denver on our flight home

SLO Children’s Museum & Creek

Fun afternoon checking out the children’s museum and then hanging out by the creek. So much to explore!

Fun horse ride at the beach…until Dunny spotted a sea monster!

Great morning riding in Morro Bay at the beach with Sierra. However, Dunny thought he saw a sea monster in the waves and unexpectedly skedaddled out of the water in a hurry. Cato held on for a while but then hit the sand hard. The nice Urgent Care, ER, and Orthopedic Surgeon office staff were all great helping us with his broken arm, and Cato’s been a serious trooper! He was especially intrigued with being inside a monster donut!

Library Story Time at Sunken Gardens

Really fun summer morning activity in downtown Atascadero. Someone put bubbles in the fountain (first day back to school prank??) and the egg shake song is one of Cato’s favorites! Our friend Xavier spent the entire time drumming on the electrical outlet, lol.

Wiggle it. Wiggle it.

Tiny Human, Toy Dog, Cool Vibes. Audio up!

Vacation in Alaska!

We had a fantastic time checking out Anchorage for 4 days and then driving down to Seward to explore for another 3 days. Highlights included a Reindeer Farm (with a practice roof ;-), watching planes at the world’s largest sea plane base, a Glacier Discovery train ride, hiking to Exit Glacier in Kenai Fjords National Park, and a 6hr boat tour into the same park. As always, Cato’s favorite activities involved throwing rocks into water, climbing on tractors, and scrambling over rocks/roots while hiking. He also loves airplane trips because then he gets to ride on LOTS of escalators, moving walk ways (running laps, if time permits), and underground trams.

Board Game Day

It was a fun afternoon playing board games with friends! Istanbul did not disappoint (we actually did two rounds with different players). Du cooked some delicious BBQ for dinner (Jasper approved!) and Cato had fun getting to play with Quang. When I announced “Bed time!” Cato crawled under the table to sleep with Jasper 🥰

Picking Olallieberries at Avila Barn

Hudson and Cato had a blast feeding lettuce to all the animals, playing on the old tractor, and then picking berries. The very nice but out-of-touch lady at the farm stand expected us to pick berries with 2 year olds and NOT let them eat any in the process… definitely a losing battle, lol 🤣

Fun-filled Weekend

We kicked off the weekend with a birthday party (Sierra in our Parent Participation class turned 3 yrs old!) and then headed north to Monterey to visit family. Had a lovely dinner w Auntie Lucy at Hulas Saturday evening and then a picnic breakfast at Dennis the Menace Park with Uncle Dai and Rick. We even had some small world run-ins with a good friend from high school and the Neuberts! The weather was as perfect as it gets 😃
